Low-Power 2.4GHz 5-b Digital Attenuator
NEW! DAT-31-PN Mini-Circuits model DAT-31-PN digital RF attenuator for 50-Ω applications from DC to 2.4 GHz. The 5-b component provides 31-dB total attenuation with an LSB of 1 dB and MSB of 16 dB. The attenuation accuracy is typically within 0.1 dB. Insertion loss is typically 2 dB or less at the minimum attenuation setting, across the full frequency range. Model DAT-31-PN is based on an advanced silicon CMOS process, which delivers the performance of GaAs with the cost and reliability of silicon. The attenuator features a parallel control interface and fast switching speed: the component requires typically 1 µs to make the transition from 50 percent of the control signal to within 0.5 dB of the final attenuation value. Model DAT-31-PN is designed for dual supply voltages of +3 and -3 VDC, and draws typically 100 µA current from each supply. It handles input power levels to +24 dBm, and achieves high linearity for demanding communications applications, with an input third-order intercept point (IP3) of typically +52 dBm. The low-power CMOS digital attenuator is supplied in a 20-lead, 4x4 mm surface-mount package and designed for operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C. The rugged device is immune to latch up from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and is built to handle ESD levels of 500 V per the human body model (HBM) and 100 V per the machine model (MM). Model DAT-31-PN is ideal for applications in cellular base-station infrastructure equipment, wireless local area networks (WLANs), and in power-amplifier distortion-cancellation circuits. It is one member of a new line of digital RF attenuators from Mini-Circuits. The attenuator is also available as model DAT-31-PP with a parallel control interface and single supply voltage, as model DAT-31-SN with a serial control interface and dual supply voltage, and as model DAT-31-SP with a serial control interface and single supply voltage. Additional digital RF attenuators for both 50- and 75-Ω applications are available. |
